A journalists’ roundtable on the current security issues was held at the Soodang Faculty House of the Korea University on September 18, 2025 by the cooperation between Jean Monnet EU Centre of Excellence of Korea University, Korea Europe & You(KEY), Asia Future Institute, Alta Strategies and Asia Centre.

Prof. Jae-Seung Lee, the Director of Jean Monnet EU Centre of Excellence and Ilmin International Institute, Philippe Li, the President of KEY, Leveau Arnaud, the President of Alta Strategies and Asia Centre, Jae-Hoon Yoo, the President of Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation attended the event, along with several journalists and directors from Korean and French organizations.

Especially Dr. Leveau delivered a lecture as a speaker of the roundtable, focusing on “Security, Innovation, and Sustainability” from a specific perspective combined with the relation between Korea and France. He outlined shared security challenges including revisionist powers such as Russia, North Korea, and China, as well as the unpredictability of U.S. foreign policy and Europe’s ongoing war in Ukraine. Turning to innovation, Dr. Leveau highlighted opportunities of more cooperations between Korea and France in various areas such as aerospace, energy, semiconductors etc., emphasizing the importance of leadership and recommending foundations toward cooperation such as Ministerial 2+2 dialogue and high level meetings between each government.

Regarding the topics discussed, there also was a Q&A session, where the journalists and participants raised a series of questions about each topic and Dr. Leveau shared his own insights and opinions, focusing on more cooperations and conversations between decision-makers and practitioners to get through the current period of great transformation and chanllenges together and to thus make a better future between two countries.
